As was announced in the Summer 2012 Newsletter: the guesthouse on Lekey’s compound is ready to receive its first guests!

With the building you support the 20 children that live with Lekey, and his family will be guaranteed a roof over their heads. The house contains two large bedrooms, a bathroom with a toilet and hot (!) shower and a cosy living room. A terrace is being constructed as we speak so that guests can eat outside.

Chief reason for having built the guest house is that Lekey has many visitors on a yearly basis which takes away from the private space of his family. Lekey is a good host and will never refuse a request to stay but he cannot ask his guests for a contribution. However, of the 20, nine kids sleep in one room, sometimes with three in one bed. That is not how it should be and therefore guests are kindly requested to utilize the guesthouse and thus pay for their visit.

Sleeping in the guesthouse must be very relaxing when you know that your contribution supports the children of Mdawi!
